    We are in exciting times as design practitioners, with traditional static design tools becoming more prevalent, growing in number and competing for our attention, as well as the technology behind our designs becoming more complicated. We are faced with a tough decision:
    • Learn more about these technologies and start to at least work more closely with the individuals who implement our designs, or;
    • Fall behind in our design implementations because we can't communicate as effectively with those traditional tools.
    In this workshop you'll learn the basics around HTML and CSS prototyping. We won't provide all of the answers, but we will give you some basic tips and hands-on experience with:
    • Tools to collaborate with multiple team members
    • How to think about responsive design beyond "just" a grid system
    • Frameworks for designing in code
    • Basic setup of your machine for prototyping in HTML and CSS, Mac and PC friendly workshop!
    • Using tools such as EightShapes Blocks to be modular in your prototyping approach

    10:15am - 11:00am: Collaboration and Iteration
    11:00am - 11:30am: Grid Systems
    11:30am - 12:00pm: Frameworks

    12:00pm -1:15pm: Lunch Break

    Workshop Facilitator

    Jason WishardJason Wishard
    Design Lead, Resonate

    Jason is a designer and storyteller, communicating business goals, in a user's world. He is currently the Design Lead at Resonate, a start-up in Reston, VA, tackling user experience, visual design and data visualization in the ad-tech space.

    His career spans the spectrum of public and private sector clients such as the FHWA, Department of Homeland Security, Network Solutions, Marriott, Cisco and Yahoo!. He wrangles design in everything from pen/paper and InDesign to Photoshop and Sketch App, and even jumps into Codekit, Jade and Sass when the task demands it.

    Jason doesn't necessarily believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach to design, but that design can "fit-into-all-approaches" to building anything. This means thinking quick on your feet and knowing when to use certain tools and techniques to get the job done. Good design is about giving the user the best experience and communicating those ideas on paper, in mocks or in code.
