Description:
A major redesign of a web site is a large project in which usability and user-centered design professionals often play an important role. Your company or client
may be concerned about “getting it right this time,” catching up with the competition, or integrating several existing sites that have grown out of control. You may be expected to create a new design quickly, with limited resources, and many technical unknowns.
If you are (or have been) in this situation, you know that you need a plan of action.
At this interactive session, we will discuss the roadmap for a web site redesign, including tools, tips, and strategies. You are invited to bring artifacts and examples of tools you used in a redesign project. We will discuss our experiences with planning and facilitating the many activities that occur in a user-centered redesign, learn from each other's stories and examples, and talk about best practices.
Questions for discussion will include:
Where should you start?
Who should be on the team?
How do you find out what the users need?
Should you do a content inventory?
When should the graphic designer and the developer get involved?
What activities can be done in parallel?
When should you do usability testing?
How can you streamline the process?
What are some best practices for redesign?
