Description:
Usability professionals often take a leadership role in gathering and documenting user needs. We create many different artifacts to describe the users, their needs and goals, the vision for the proposed product, and user interface designs. These artifacts may include personas and scenarios, vision statements, conceptual prototypes, test results, and other types of documentation.
At this interactive session, you are invited to bring examples of artifacts you use to communicate user needs and design recommendations. We will discuss our experiences with communicating, learn from each other's examples, and talk about the pros and cons of different communication tools.
Questions for discussion will include:
What is the best way of communicating a UCD vision?
What are some of the challenges we face in communicating user needs?
How well do the artifacts that we produce to communicate user needs feed into the requirements documents produced by other members of the development team?
Are UCD artifacts communicating in a style that engineers and software developers can understand?
What are some of the most effective ways of documenting user needs and design recommendations?
